Order of British Columbia

May 18, 2012

Former Prime Minister Campbell is to be awarded the Order of British Columbia, the province’s highest honor. Thirteen other recipients will also be honored along with her in the investiture ceremony in September.

BCCLA 50th Anniversary Gala

May 14, 2012

Former Prime Minister Campbell is looking forward to helping the BC Civil Liberties Association celebrate their 50th Anniversary on June 2, 2012. Ms. Campbell will speak at a course offered by BCCLA earlier in the day, The Law Protecting Liberty: What You Need to Know, as well as the gala later that evening.

Appearance at Harvard Kennedy School

May 7, 2012

Kim Campbell is looking forward to visiting the Harvard Kennedy School and speaking at a "brown bag" [lunch-time] session and sharing some of what she is working on these days with organizations such as the World Movement for Democracy as well as the [Ukrainian] Foundation for Effective Governance. The session will be held at noon on May 9th.

Celebrating PPF's 25th Anniversary

Toronto, Canada. Former Prime Minister Campbell was honored alongside her fellow living former prime ministers [Joe Clark, John Turner, Brian Mulroney, and Paul Martin] by the Public Policy Forum. (Also honored, but not able to attend was Jean Chretien.)

The event marked the 25th Annivesary of the organization and brought together over a thousand leaders from all sectors of Canadian society.

Campbell join's Climate Action Reserve's Honorary Board

May 4, 2012

Kim Campbell has been tapped to join a new honorary board created by the Climate Action Reserve. Ms. Campbell's fellow board members are Gray Davis, former governor of California; California State Senator Fran Pavley; Diane Wittenberg, former founding president of The Climate Registry and the California Climate Action Registry; and actor and environmental activist Ed Begley, Jr. Climate Action Reserve explains that the new board "will provide guidance on the organization’s future environmental pursuits and growth."

Former PM's to be Honored

Kim Campbell, along with John Turner, Joe Clark, Paul Martin and Brian Mulroney will be honored on May 3 in Toronto at the Public Policy Forum's 25th Anniversary Testimonial Dinner. (Also being honored, but unable to attend is Jean Chretien.) Ms. Campbell looks forward to being honored alongside her colleagues and celebrating this milestone for the Public Policy Forum.

WSJ Women in the Economy

Once again this year, Ms. Campbell was pleased to participate as a member of the The Wall Street Journal’s Task Force for Women in the Economy. The task force itself is comprised of nearly 200 influential CEOs, luminaries and subject-matter experts, both men and women.

Their goal was to “create a business-based, data-driven action plan to address an important economic issue: making better use of female talent to promote economic growth and competitiveness in the U.S. and worldwide.”

How Vancouver Got its Name

April 4, 2012

CBC's George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight ventured West to do some shows from Vancouver, and although Ms. Campbell wasn't there at that time, she did tape a segment for them ahead of time. In the video below, she explains how B.C.'s largest city avoided being officially named after a guy called 'Gassy Jack'.

Intriguing Canadians Exhibit

April 2, 2012

The photo exhibition, Double Take: Portraits of Intriguing Canadians, compiled by Library and Archives Canada from the National Portrait Gallery has just begun it's two-year national tour. It's first stop is Confederation Centre of the Arts in Charlottetown. The exhibit opened on Saturday, Apr 7 and runs until Sep 3. The exhibit features the famous portrait of Former Prime Minister Campbell taken by Barbara Woodley.

Campbell Comments on Chicago's Loss of G8 Summit

While attending the OECD's Mayors and Ministers Roundtable, Frmr PM Campbell commented to ABC7 about Chicago's recent loss of the G8 Summit since it has been rescheduled to be held at Camp David. Ms. Campbell recalled when Canada hosted the G8 and G20 and the incredible security costs associated with it etc.

Speaking in Chicago

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel will be hosting the OECD Roundtable of Mayors and Ministers March 8-9, 2012. Former Prime Minister Campbell will be featured in two sessions of the conference.  The first will be in one of the Policy Dialogues: Financing urban sustainability in key sectors: Buildings. Then, the second will be at the luncheon on March 8th, International Women's Day.

A Whisper to a Roar

January 10, 2012

Appleseed Entertainment's A Whisper to a Roar is now in post production and hopefully due out this year. The film focuses on the inspiring and dangerous work of democracy activists in five countries around the world – Egypt, Malaysia, Ukraine Venezuela, and Zimbabwe. The filmmakers garnered from Ms. Campbell her expert opinion as a former world leader who has been working in democracy promotion for many years.
